Don't Cancel Class

Are you going to a conference, presenting a publication, or taking a vacation during the semester? Don't cancel your class! Professional staff members are available upon request to make presentations to classes on career center services and job search topics. Presentations may be scheduled for partial or full class periods. These programs may be scheduled in your classroom or at the Stuckert Career Center for a group of up to 75 students. If scheduled at the career center, presentations can include an overview of services, tips on utilizing the Katherine Kemper Career Library and tours of the facility including the center's extensive on-campus recruitment interview rooms. Every effort will be made to coordinate staff availability with your syllabus schedule. You don't even have to be thinking about canceling class to take advantage of the presentations available through the career center!

If you have a presentation in mind but don't see it listed, then ask. We are happy to tailor a presentation to your students' particular interests.

The career center's professional staff members are divided by colleges. Contact the career counselor assigned to your college to schedule a class presentation.

Network

Career center staff will provide introductions of employers visiting campus to faculty members interested in establishing or maintaining such contacts. Employer-faculty lunches are often arranged through the career center. Faculty wishing to host employers in the classroom as part of an employer panel, a lesson on cutting edge issues/technology in the "real world", or to speak on a job search topics are encouraged to reach out to the employer through the career center. The career center's Wildcat CareerLink is an excellent database of employers in a variety of industries that seek to develop a recruiting relationship with UK. These interactions are an excellent way to promote the exchange of ideas between the academic and corporate world and promote partnerships in education broadening the educational experience of our students. Contact the career counselor assigned to your college to connect with employers.

If employers contact you seeking to develop a relationship with the University of Kentucky, then please refer them to us at 859-257-2746. We can assist the employers in registering for Wildcat CareerLink which allows employers to schedule on-campus interviews, post positions, register for career fairs, and view online resume books. We can also assist the employers in connecting with the appropriate career counselors.

We know that as faculty, you often come to the forefront of the hiring process when prospective employers contact you directly in their efforts to hire highly qualified UK students and graduates for their organizations. Be aware that helping those employer and students can create unforeseen legal and ethical issues.
