The Asia Center is a catalyst for educational and professional opportunities to engage with Asia’s peoples, cultures, heritages, geographies, languages, arts, sciences, economies, and technologies. The Center works with the University of Kentucky to prepare the Commonwealth for the global economy.

Congratulations to the first "Asia Center Scholarship" recipients
Thanks to support from the Freeman Foundation, the Asia Center is pleased to announce that 10 UK undergraduates will receive support in summer or fall, 2009 in order to study in Asia. They are: Steven Barnett, Scott Beckmeyer, Clay Bohle, Sean Brennan, Cynthia Crawford, Ben Ervin, Loretta Kwan, Sara Sampson, Shawn Sullivan, and Katherine Welch.

 

Study Chinese or Japanese language at UK this Summer
Build a strong foundation for your language studies over 12 weeks. Classes are Monday through Friday (Japanese Schedule Chinese Schedule) The first semester level will be offered from May 12- June 23, and the second semester session runs from June 25- August 6. 

Non-UK students are welcome. Apply to UK as a visiting or non-degree seeking student, which is not a lengthy process. Visit the UK Admissions page for more information.

 

Invite the Asia Center's "Japan Outreach Coordinator" to your School

Keiko Fukuzaki will be at UK for until July, 2010 as a "Japan Outreach Coordinator" with the Laurasian Institution's Japan Outreach Initiative. Keiko is available to give presentations and lead activties about Japanese culture at schools or community groups through out Kentucky. Fill out this Request Form and return it with preferred dates and topics for your school or community group.
