For one week see the rich and diverse artistic and cultural traditions of many areas of Asia come to life. Interact with the artists, musicians, dancers, and scholars who keep these traditions alive through their practice, and interpret them for contemporary times.
Living Traditions
The ArtsAsia Festival is organized by the University of Kentucky Asia Center and the UK Asian Fine Arts Initiative.
The Asia Center icon is based on the Flying Horse of Gansu, China. On June 15, 2000, the city of Xi'an, China presented a life-size, bronze copy of this Han dynasty (206 BC to 220 AD) antique to Lexington, the "Horse Capital of the World", and it is now a downtown landmark.
