Kentucky Asian Studies Association

The Kentucky Asian Studies Association (KASA) is a group of those who study or teach about Asia at all levels of P-16 education, throughout Kentucky, or who advocate for Asian Studies in community and government organizations.

KASA holds a statewide meeting once a year for participants to share Asian Studies news from respective institutions, and to strategize ways to cooperatively build Asian Studies in Kentucky.

This year's meeting has been organized by the University of Kentucky Asia Center and is hosted by the Jessamine County Schools.  Jessamine County Schools have built a strong Mandarin Chinese language program through the KY Department of Education's Visiting Chinese Teacher Program.

Registration for KASA 2008 is open to all and free of charge , but submitting a registration form by October 22, 2008 is required. Registration Form

    Presentation by Patrick Conlon, UK Student returning from Dalian China through the Freeman Asia Program

    A)  Developing Asian exchange programs at all levels 
          Fayette County Schools, Scott County HS, China Exchange Initiative 

    B)  Developments in Asian Studies at KY Institutions of Higher Education-
           new majors, new language programs, new courses

3:00-3:30 pm     
     Business meeting and closing remarks
