Community Outreach in the Commonwealth
![]() |
The UK Asia Center is dedicated to education programs and events on UK campus and in the local community to foster cultural exchange between the Commonwealth and Asian nations. |
The UK Asia Center was founded in 2002 as a catalyst for educational and professional opportunities to engage with Asia's peoples, cultures, heritages, geographies, languages, arts, sciences, economies and technologies. The Center works with the University of Kentucky to prepare the Commonwealth for the global economy.
The Asia Center has proven to be an active force in change, with accomplishments such as:
The NCTA program, which teaches K-12 teachers about Asian culture for improved Asia-related curriculum
The ArtsAsia Festival,an event for students, faculty, and the community to experience the traditions of Asia firsthand
The JOI program, which brought Keiko Fukuzaki to Kentucky for travelling to schools and teaching kids about Japan
If you're interested in being involved, or simply want to know what's going on, please contact the Asia Center for more information!
