Study Chinese and Japanese Languages at UK this Summer
First year courses will be offered in an intensive format from May 6 to July 31. Non-UK Students and High School students are welcome. Learn more about this exciting opportunity to "jump- start" Asian language learning.

 

K-12 Teachers: Opportunities Abound to Learn about Asia!
There are many different programs offering study tours in Asia (Japan, Korea, Cambodia), workshops (Colorado, Hawaii), or ways to teach in Asia next summer (China, Vietnam). Deadlines are approaching in February and March, so apply soon: 2008 Opportunities Abroad for Teachers (pdf.)

 

Strengthening Asian Studies and Languages across the Curriculum
The Asia Center has been awarded an “Undergraduate International Studies & Foreign Language” (UISFL) grant from the U.S. Department of Education Title VI program.  The 2 year, $316,000 project, with matching funds from UK , will enhance Asian Studies for undergraduates in 3 ways: 1) Establish faculty development programs on Asia; 2) Create new courses and revise existing curriculum to include Asia - including Discovery seminars, an Honors track, and a study abroad course; 3) Increase Japanese and Chinese language offerings.
++The deadline for faculty applications has passed. 13 faculty from 6 colleges are participating.
