NCTA SeminarsThe Asia Center at the University of Kentucky is working with the East Asian Studies Center of Indiana University and the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia to bring seminars on Teaching About Asia to teachers in Kentucky. The next seminar will be in Spring, 2010. The location will be announced soon. Teachers will have an intensive study experience into the cultures and history of the great societies of Asia. Exploring and discussing written works while learning to meaningfully incorporate Asia into the classroom environment is the goal of this program. This seminar is designed to help prepare teachers to prepare their students for a world where Asia demands greater attention. Demographically, Asia has over half the world's population. Economically, East Asia surpassed Europe as the United States' largest trading partner region in the 1970s. Culturally, the philosophical traditions and arts of Asia have great influence around the world. This seminar is a great opportunity to:
