National Consortium for Teaching about Asia:
Upcoming Seminars
Through the Freeman Foundation-funded initiative, NCTA, the Asia Center has helped over 100 Kentucky secondary teachers develop their knowledge and teaching skills on East Asia.
The next seminars are July 28- August 2, 2008 in Somerset, and September- November, 2009 in Louisville.
Summer 2008 Seminar
WHAT: Please review this sample syllabus from last year's summer seminar to get an idea of the topics and schedule for the upcoming one in Somerset.

**Double occupancy hotel rooms will be provided for non-local teachers during the seminar. WHEN:
July 28 7:00 pm- 9:00 pm
July 29 9:00am – 4:00 pm
July 30 9:00am – 4:00 pm
July 31 9:00am – 4:00 pm
August 1 9:00am – 4:00 pm
August 2 9:00am – 1:00 pm
Follow-up meeting on February 28, 12:30- 4:30.
INSTRUCTOR:
Dr. Carol Medlicott, Assistant Professor of Geography at NKU
COMMITMENT:
Read requried readings before the start of the seminar, attend 30 hours of Seminar sessions, write and implement 3 lessons on East Asia, and attend the follow-up meeting on February 28, 2009.
COST:
There are no fees for participating. Lunches during the seminar will be provided for everyone. Lodging (shared hotel rooms) will be provided for out-of-town teachers.
Participants may purchase up to 3 UK graduate credits, at their own expense.

July 15. Teachers are admitted until the course fills.
You must commit to reading ahead of time, however, so the earlier you apply, the more time you'll have to read about East Asia!
