National Consortium for Teaching about Asia: Upcoming Seminars
Through the Freeman Foundation-funded initiative, NCTA, the Asia Center has helped over 100 Kentucky secondary teachers develop their knowledge and teaching skills on East Asia.
We are pleased to announce the next seminars at Morehead State University (July- August, 2007) in an intensive format and in Lexington (January - April, 2008.)
Sample Syllabus:
WHERE: Morehead State University Campus- Morehead, KY
Please note: Priority for this seminar will be given to teachers in Eastern Kentucky counties.
Participants may stay on the Morehead Campus (fully funded), or commute in every day (mileage reimbursed up to $24/ day.)
WHEN: Monday July 30- Friday August 3 9:00am - 4:00pm each day and 1-2 evening sessions.
INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Carol Medlicott, NKU Department of Geography & History
COMMITMENT: Complete assigned readings before the Seminar begins, attend 30 hours of Seminar sessions, write and implement 3 lessons on East Asia, attend a follow-up activity in early 2008, and write a follow-up report..
COST: $20 sign-up fee with the application. Meals, mileage to Morehead, and lodging during the seminar are provided. Participants may purchase graduate credits at their own expense.

DEADLINE: May 4, 2007. Space is limited to 15 teachers. Participants will be selected by May 18 and receive reading materials by June 1.
