Carol D. Hanley is an Extension Specialist at the University of Kentucky where her primary responsibilities are implementing environmental and science education curricula for 4-H programs, serving as Coordinator of K-12 Education at the Tracy Farmer Center for the Environment, and acting as co-chairperson of the Environment and Natural Resource Issues Task Force. Carol is a member of the boards of the Kentucky Association for Environmental Education, the Kentucky Environmental Education Council, and Project Learning Tree. She is serving as chairperson of the professional development committee for Networking for Leadership, Inquiry, and Systemic Thinking, a partnership between the Council of State Science Supervisors and NASA and Curriculum Chairperson for the NSTA Regional conference coming to Kentucky in 2002.

Carol has had four years of experience as branch manager at the Kentucky Department of Education, developing state content standards and units of study that incorporate the standards. She has served as project manager for the Kentucky Program of Studies, the Implementation Manual for the Program of Studies, and the curriculum manager for a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Grant to develop 16 units of study regarding the risk factors associated with cardiovascular health.
