The Environmental Systems Certificate 

The Curriculum

Classes leading to the Environmental Systems Certificate are offered at convenient times and locations every semester on the UK campus.

Seminar in Environmental Systems
Tuesday, 4-5 pm, every semester (1 credit)

Presentations by expert practitioners in environmental systems management. Topics include law and regulatory compliance, medicine, biology, engineering, and social and physical sciences.

Natural, Biological, and Medical Sciences in Environmental Systems
Tuesday, 5-8 pm, fall semester (3 credits)

Overview of environmental systems; terrestrial,  aquatic, and applied ecology; toxicology and ecotoxicology; public health; occupational and environmental health and safety.

Engineering and Physical Sciences in Environmental Systems
Thursday, 5-8 pm, fall semester (3 credits)

Overview of earth systems, impacts of human processes on water systems, the role of atmospheric systems on earth processes, processes and principles involved in waste-producing organizations.

Law and Social Science in Environmental Systems
Tuesday, 5-8 pm, spring semester (3 credits)

Overview of environmental law and regulations, environmental economics, environmental policy analysis, social and cultural issues related to environmental systems management.
