BIO550 Fall1998 Christer Hogstrand, B08D Morgan,
257-7751 This course in comparative physiology will take an integrative approach in presenting the subject matter. This means that we will consider levels of biological organization ranging from the cell to the whole animal. It is a truely comparative course in that we will review how different animal groups have solved physiological problems according to their specific environments. Furthermore, we will cover non-mammalian systems to a greater extent than in Animal Physiology, BIO350. The textbook is Comparative Animal Physiology by Withers, P.C. Saunders College Publishing, 1992. This WWW resource is intended to provide information and instructions that will hopefully help to explain the material covered in class. It also provides supplemental resources that may be useful. Please, understand that the notes and figures published here are likely cluttered with missspellings and factual errors. They are not a substitution for either lectures or text book, but an aid for your learning.
