Pigment-Controlling Hormones in Crustacea
Most pigment-controlling hormones are released from the sinus gland
In addition, hormones such as RPCH and WPCH are secreted in significant quantities from the post-commisural organ.
Some pigment-controlling hormones are oligopeptides with amidated C-termini (i.e. RPCH: pGlu-Leu-Asn-Ser-Pro-Gly-Trp-NH2)
Other hormones, such as 5-HT, DA, NE, Ach, histamine, octopamine, and GABA can stimulate migration of pigment via stimulation or inhibition of pigment dispersing or pigment concentrating hormones
