Joe Sutliff Sanders is a native of North Carolina, though he has lived elsewhere most of his life. He gets what is probably an unhealthy charge out of reading, writing, and critiquing speculative fiction in its various forms, and he does a little bit of each. This story is set in the town where Joe and his wife, Melendra lived last year, Imaichi, Japan.
