Kommon Katerpillars

Tobacco hornworm

A young tobacco hornworm larva. Its feeding damage is just below it on the leaf.

The pupal stages occurs in the soil and is the way this insect spends the winter in KY. The white stripes on the side are not viisble until the caterpillar is about half-grown.

"Look-a-likes" are other striped caterpillars: NOthing we have seen looks like it. We will learn about the tomato hornworm in lecture.
