I'll say it again, Joe Sakic is back!!! The man is scoring like crazy helping the Avalanche to a 7 game winning streak. He's moving up the leader board and most importantly putting the puck in the net! Yeah, this guy isn't and all-star my ass!
The Colorado Avalanche center is now 8th in the league in scoring with 51 pts! He has 3 goals and 4 assists over the last 3 games! His 21 goals places him with the 7th highest total and his 5 short handed goals is still tops in the league over Rolston from NJ with 4.

THIS IS CRAP!!!!!!!!! COMPLETE AND TOTAL CRAP!
Joe Sakic was NOT named to the North American Reserve squad for the All-Star Game. I am SOOOO Mad. Come on Keith Primeau instead of Joe??? Roenick? Modano?? Aren't there enough Stars on the squad??
December 17th, 1998
CRAP! Joe Sakic will miss the next 7-10 games. Why? He separted his shoulder in tonight's game against Vancouver. A game that Peter Forsberg missed due to a sore groin (ouch). A quick and complete recovery to him!
December 12th, 1998
Joe will miss his first and hopefully last game of the season. Why? He is due back in Colorado where his wife is recovering from an appendectomy. A quick recovery to her!

It's been a long time since an update, but lets see if we can catch-up! The Avalanche sucked and now they don't. They lead their division (the Northwest) with 28 points (13-11-2) and have the 4th best record in the West. Why? the slow start? That's easy - injuries plagued a defensive corps already missing Sandish Ozolinsh. The kids have stepped up and the ship has stopped taking on too much water.
Joe has been incredible and is back to his old scoring ways! His 32 points (12-20) tie him with Paul Kariya (13-19) for 5th overall in scoring. He trails teammate Peter Forsberg 33 points (9-24), John LeClair 34 points (19-15), Jaromir Jagr 35 points (8-27), and the league leader Eric Lindros 38 points (16-22). His 20 assists places him 5th overall. Joe is also ranked 7th in the league in minutes played averaging 25:52 minutes per contest which is the highest among ALL forwards!
October 17th, 1998
Who is tied for the league lead in goal scoring? Who is tied for second in the league in scoring? Lindros? Jagr? Gretzky? NO. It's Joe Sakic. That's right! The Avalanche are off to a horrible 0-4 start, but Joe has been Amazing!

Is it that time again??? Thank GOD. Hockey season is around the corner for all of us fans and for Joe Sakic as well. I must say, it has been a much more quiet off-season for Joe than it was last year!! No huge contract talks or realistic talks about Joe becoming Broadway Joe like almost happened last year. There was a swirl of rumors before and during the NHL entry draft that Joe and some picks might be moved to Tampa for the #1 choice but that obviously never happened. I guess that is a major drawback to having a huge signing bonus and a "low" salary this season. If the Avalanche find themselves out of contention near the end of this season (which is unlikely) Joe Sakic trade rumors will swirl again and again. You put a Joe Sakic on any playoff-bound team and you have an instant contender! I just hope that Joe's (really stinking rich and lucky) agent was smart enough to forsee this and include either a "no-trade" clause or at the very least a list of teams that Joe would agree to play for.
