The College of Communications and Information Studies greatly appreciates the support given to our students, programs and faculty through gifts from our alumni and friends. These gifts make it possible for us to award scholarships and fellowships to our students, provide a wide variety of programs including lectures and panels, and provide support for our centers of excellence.
Our Development Office is located in 129 Grehan Journalism Building. We would be happy to provide you with a information on college events, our annual report, a list of gift opportunities and matching gift companies.
Meet Our Development Officer
Janice Birdwhistell has been with the College since May 1999, serving as our development officer and the coordinator for our annual Awards and Recognition Dinner. Janice is also responsible for writing various college brochures and coordinating the content and publication of the School of Journalism and Telecommunications Alum Newsletter. With an extensive background in marketing, promotion, association management, event planning and public relations, Janice has served on the UK Staff Senate, the Annual Giving Task Force, UK National Alumni Association Board of Directors and the President’s Outreach and Extension Program Committee. She currently serves on the UK Communicators Committee. Birdwhistell has served as deputy commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Travel Development; marketing director for the Kentucky Horse Park; director of tourism for the Greater Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau; industry and government relations director for the National Tour Association and director of constituent services for Kentucky's Sixth Congressional District from 1993 to 1999.
