Research
and Instructional Technology
This
office provides technnical support, production
assistance, and infrastructure management
for the Department. Highly trained staff,
including student interns, utilize the latest
computer-based production technology to
assist researchers and instructors in the
design and production of media and web materials.
The production team can digitize and edit
video; export video to VHS, DVD, or web-based
formats; construct websites; design and
develop online data collection instruments;
and produce interactive multimedia products
for web or CD. Dedicated servers provide
online presentation of media and materials
(including interactive websites, streaming
video, and multimedia), online collection
of data (including surveys and questionnaires),
and online hosting and processing of data
(including subject screening and automated
email notification).

Outstanding Professors
Dr.
James Applegate, professor emeritus, was named the
Distinguished Alumnus of the Communication Program
at the University of Illinois.
Dr. Robert
Bostrom, professor emeritus, received the
UK Alumni Association Great Teacher Award in 1998.
Dr. Lewis
Donohew, professor emeritus, received the
2001 NCAICA Outstanding Health Scholar award.
Dr. Alan
DeSantis, associate professor, was awarded
the College of Communications and Information
Studies Excellence in Teaching Award in 1996,
the Alumni Association Great Teacher Award in
1997, the Interfraternity Council Great Teacher
award in 1997, and has twice been voted by the
student body as UK's "favorite professor,"
in 1999 and 2000.
Dr. Derek
Lane, associate professor, was awarded the
2000 UK Alumni Association Great Teacher Award.
In 1998, he received the College of Communications
and Information Studies Excellence in Teaching
Award.
Dr. Enid
Waldhart, associate professor, received the
UK Outstanding Advisor Award in 2001 and the Chancellors
Award for Outstanding Teaching for a tenured faculty
member in 1990.
