Student
Wins Top Paper at SSCA Conference
Congratulations
to Communication major Cindy Ledford who
was awarded a prize of $100 and a plaque
for the top student paper (out of the 82
student
papers) at the Southern
States Communication Association Undergraduate
Honors Conference held in Winston-Salem,
North Carolina, April 4-7, 2002. Three other
Communication students were also named among
the top 12 finalists: Anupa Arya, Kevin
Kurzendoerfer and Kelley Shields. They were
joined by three additional students whose
papers were selected for presentation: Stephanie
Caldwell, Brian Crum, and Allison Thompson.
All of their presentations were outstanding
and we are proud to have such fine representation
at this conference!
The
Communication Department provides funds
for conference registration fees, some travel
funds for meals and lodging and this
year the office for Undergraduate Studies
(through Dr. Phil Kraemer's direction) also
contributed funds for travel. Thanks to
both offices for providing this kind of
funding. Next year's conference will be
held in Birmingham, Alabama. Papers will
need to be submitted for consideration in
December. Interested students should look
carefully at the papers they are writing
now and in the fall term as possibilities.
Contact Dr.
Enid Waldhart for additional information
about the conference.
