Awards Recognize Dedication to Quality Instruction
Teaching
involves not only knowing what to teach,
but how to relay that information to the
student. Faculty of the Department of Communication
routinely demonstrate a strong dedication
to delivering high quality instruction and
are regularly recognized for excellence
in teaching. As indicated by the list on
the right, numerous faculty have received
awards for outstanding teaching, including
those selected by students, alumni and other
faculty.

Excellence In Teaching
Dr. Robert
Bostrom, professor emeritus, received the UK
Alumni Association Great Teacher Award in 1998.
Dr. Alan
DeSantis, associate professor, was awarded the
College of Communications and Information Studies
Excellence in Teaching Award in 1996, the Alumni
Association Great Teacher Award in 1997, the Interfraternity
Council Great Teacher award in 1997, and has twice
been voted by the student body as UK's "favorite
professor," in 1999 and 2000.
Dr. Derek Lane,
associate professor, was awarded the 2000 UK Alumni
Association Great Teacher Award. In 1998, he received
the College of Communications and Information Studies
Excellence in Teaching Award.
Dr. Enid
Waldhart, associate professor, received the
UK Outstanding Advisor Award in 2001 and the UK
Chancellors Award for Outstanding Teaching
for a tenured faculty member in 1990.
