Internship
in Communication
COM
399 INTERNSHIP IN COMMUNICATION. (1-6)
Provides field-based experience in communication
through work in industry, government, education,
etc. Pass-fail only. May be repeated to
a maximum of six credits. A maximum of three
credit hours may be counted toward the communication
major. The student works 50 hours for each credit hour
earned. For example, for three credit hours the student
works 150 hours over the course of the semester
(approximately 10 hours a week during the Fall and Spring
semesters and 20 hours weekly during the Summer Session).

course credit. If you are
a Communication major, COM 399 is the course
for you.
In
order to enroll in COM 399, you must meet
the following criteria:
- Be
a junior or senior majoring in Communication.
- Have
completed COM 351 and COM 365.
- Have
a minimum overall GPA of 2.6.
- Have
a Communication major GPA of 3.0 or higher
(including COM and cognate courses).

Excellence In Teaching
Dr. Robert
Bostrom, professor emeritus, received the UK
Alumni Association Great Teacher Award in 1998.
Dr. Alan
DeSantis, associate professor, was awarded the
College of Communications and Information Studies
Excellence in Teaching Award in 1996, the Alumni
Association Great Teacher Award in 1997, the Interfraternity
Council Great Teacher award in 1997, and has twice
been voted by the student body as UK's "favorite
professor," in 1999 and 2000.
Dr. Joachim
Knuf, associate professor, was awarded the UK
Chancellors Award for Outstanding Teaching
for an untenured faculty member in 1993.
Dr. Derek Lane,
associate professor, was awarded the 2000 UK Alumni
Association Great Teacher Award. In 1998, he received
the College of Communications and Information Studies
Excellence in Teaching Award.
Dr. Enid
Waldhart, associate professor, received the
UK Outstanding Advisor Award in 2001 and the UK
Chancellors Award for Outstanding Teaching
for a tenured faculty member in 1990.
