"Communicating Beyond Boundaries:

New Voices In Interdisciplinary Scholarship"

The Graduate Student Association of the Department of Communication, at the University of Kentucky, is having its annual symposium. The title of the 2003 GSA Symposium is "Communicating Beyond Boundaries: New Voices in Interdisciplinary Scholarship" and it will be held February 21-22, 2003 in Lexington (KY).

The Graduate Student Symposium arrived at its 7th edition. Our effort is to make it an interdisciplinary appointment for the graduate student community in the mid-west region. With this edition, we have involved more than 70 Master and Ph. D. Programs in Communication in Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Missouri. Moreover, we invited the graduate students of related disciplines in our campus, from Anthropology to Geography, from Women's studies to Behavioral Sciences.

The Symposium has always had high-profile speakers, like Prof. Susan Bordo (2002 edition) and Prof. Robert Bostrom (2001 edition). We are pleased to continue this tradition with Prof. Jack Furlong, Professor of Philosophy at Transylvania University, Acorn Award for top professor in Kentucky.

Prof. Ramona Rush, Dean/Professor Emerita of Communications at the University of Kentucky, will deliver the symposium's closing remarks.

With the 2003 edition, the program of the symposium will include more informal social gatherings to relax and have a chat and a glass of wine (or two...) with friends and colleagues.

Submit your paper today!

We are looking forward to meeting you at the 2003 Symposium!

Sincerely,

Davide Girardelli & Maria Brann
