Dr. Roy L. Moore
is Professor of Journalism and Associate Dean for Graduate
Studies in the College of Communications and Information Studies.
His primary teaching responsibilities are JOU 531 (“Media
Law and Ethics”), ISC 543 (“Regulation of Strategic
Communication”) and CJT 630 (“Seminar in Media
Law and Public Policy”). He has taught in the Honors
program and teaches the Internet section of JOU 531. In the
summers he frequently teaches COM/TEL/JOU 319 (“World
Media Systems”) as part of the Cooperative Center for
Study Abroad in London, England. He has been an American Council
on Education (ACE) Fellow at the University of Georgia and
has served twice as Acting Director of the School of Journalism
and |
Telecommunications. He was the first Chair of the University of Kentucky
Senate Council to serve two consecutive terms. He has also been acting
student media advisor. He is an attorney (licensed in both KY and
GA) and a certified mediator and arbitrator. In 1998 he was selected
for a "Great Teacher" Award by the University of Kentucky
Alumni Association. Dr. Moore has an extensive research record, including
four books, five book chapters and 30 journal articles as well as
several grants and awards. He is the former Chair of both the Law
Division and the Mass Communications and Society Division of the Association
for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. He earned his
B.A. in English from Berea College, M.A. in Communication from the
University of Kentucky, Ph.D. in Mass Communication Research from
the University of Wisconsin-Madison and J.D. from Georgia State University.
