About Our School
The School of Journalism and Telecommunications at the University of Kentucky offers undergraduate degrees in Integrated Strategic Communication (ISC), Journalism (JOU) and Telecommunications (TEL). The emphasis within our curricula is a practical mix of hands-on application and the latest theoretical advances.
Graduates of our School go on to careers in professional fields such as news broadcasting and reporting, advertising and public relations, and sound and video production.
Our facilities are equipped with cutting edge technology, and provide students with the opportunity to develop skill with industry standards such as Macromedia Studio 8, Adobe Creative Suite II, InDesign, and Final Cut Pro.
Advisory Board
The School’s professional advisory board serves as a resource for faculty and students. The Advisory Board assists the school by:
- Keeping the faculty up-to-date on developments in the professional communities in
order to help the faculty improve the educational experience of students and their
prospects for employment;
- Identifing and developing internship opportunities for the School’s students;
- Aiding in identifying and meeting with development prospects and helping develop plans
for major fundraising initiatives;
- Meeting with students and reviewing student work to provide the faculty with an
assessment of student preparation for careers in the professions;
- When appropriate, acting as an advocate for the School in communicating with
University officials, legislators, and citizens.
