Resources: An extensive collection of
print and audiovisual materials are housed in the Center.
Activities: The Annual Scripps Howard
Foundation First Amendment Celebration at the University of
Kentucky; public policy forums on undecided voters in the presidential
election campaign, on media bias and on civic literacy; two
high school journalism workshops; and sponsorship, with the
Kentucky Secretary of State, of a high school essay contest.

FIRST AMENDMENT CENTER SIMPLIFIED TIMELINE
1987 Established with
a grant from the Kentucky First Amendment Congress and the Kentucky
Post.
1989 Dedicated by CBS newsman Charles
Kuralt and then Kentucky Post editor Judy Clabes.
1994 Buck Ryan becomes Director of the
First Amendment Center.
2005 Roy Moore becomes Executive Director
of the First Amendment Center.
2006 Mike Farrell becomes Director of
the First Amendment Center; center renamed the Scripps Howard
First Amendment Center and Farrell named a Scripps Howard Fellow.
