Christine Amerman
christine.amerman@uky.edu

Christine Amerman joins the JAT team as liaison to the College from the James W. Stuckert Career Center. She has a passion for working with students and helping them pursue and achieve their dreams. Her professional background includes teaching and working as an award-winning producer and writer of documentary television shows. She taught media production and theory at the collegiate level.

Christine earned her Master’s degree in Communication Studies from Baylor University and her Bachelor of Arts in Media Communications from Asbury College. While in college, she worked as a camera assistant for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. She has also worked as a producer and writer for the Central Texas PBS affiliate, KWBU, and produced an HD music video for artist Angie Paris while she was a Master’s student. The video was awarded numerous recognitions, among them a 2005 Silver Angel Award for Excellence in Media.

In her free time, Christine enjoys reading, playing with Graley, her Egyptian Arabian yearling horse, and training service dogs for work with disabled individuals.


Janice Birdwhistell

Janice Bridwhistell has been with the College since May 1999, serving as the College development officer and coordinator for the College's Annual Awards and Recognition Ceremony. She is also responsible for writing various College brochures and coordinating the content and publication of the School of Journalism and Telecommunications Alum Newsletter. Janice also assists the School of Journalism and Telecommunications with event planning and promotion of the School’s scholarships and the student scholarship selection process.

With an extensive background in marketing, promotion, association management, event planning and public relations, Janice has served on the UK Annual Giving Task Force, UK National Alumni Association Board of Directors, the UK Staff Senate and the President’s Outreach and Extension Program Committee. She currently serves on the UK Communicators Committee and the Communication Committee for the Development Council. In the past, Mrs. Birdwhistell served as deputy commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Travel Development; marketing director for the Kentucky Horse Park; director of tourism for the Greater Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau; industry and government relations director for the National Tour Association and director of constituent services for the sixth Congressional District from 1993 to 1999.


Lisa BrownLisa A. Brown

Lisa Brown is the director of student and multicultural affairs in the School of Journalism and Telecommunications. She serves as the adviser to the student chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists and is the co-director of the Dow Jones summer journalism workshop for minority students.

Brown received her BA in journalism and a MS in Educational Policy Studies and Evaluation from UK.

She is a board member of the Women's Forum at UK and also serves on the board of the Lexington YMCA Black Achievers' educational and cultural program.


Nathan Stevens

Nathan Stevens is the school's Technology Coordinator. He is responsible for the care and feeding of all faculty computers, the school's audio and video equipment, and the technology support structure. He is one of two Apple-licensed Final Cut Pro trainers in the state of Kentucky. He teaches courses in DVD production, videography, and video editing. He is responsible for VGNext.com, an electronic media review web site owned by Nathan and fellow writer Steven Schardein. When he gets a free moment, he likes to dust off his basketball skills and take it to the net.


Amy Jarvis

Amy Jarvis is the Assistant to the Director of the school. She is responsible for all of the school's financials, including payroll, donation accounts, and operating accounts. She also helps with event planning and administration, and manages the JAT office, among many other duties. Amy joined the school in November 2006; she previously worked in Student Financial Aid at UK, and lived and worked in Germany prior to that.
