  3. May intersession: We DO NOT have any weekend or evening hours during the 4 week May intersession.
  4. 8 week summer session: We start evening and weekend hours with the start of the 8 week summer session. We are closed from the last day of the 8 week session until the start of classes again the fall term.

PLEASE NOTE:

The CAIT is often used as an instructional facility to support specific areas of our curriculum. Also note that our facility occasionally serves some non-student constituencies. We may close the CAIT periodically to support these activities. Therefore, there may be times during the semester when the CAIT will be closed to student use. We try to give as much advance warning when we need to restrict access; please watch for postings by the CAIT entrance and on the SLIS listserv.

Suggestions are welcome; put them in mailbox #121 in the hallway outside the CAIT.

Center for Applied Information Technology Rules

  1. Only software installed or approved by CAIT personnel may be used on our computers. The exception to this is when instructors wish students to locate and install software as part of a course assignment.
  2. Please do not attempt to do any repairs on your own; if a problem develops with a printer or a disk drive consult the CAIT staff.
  3. No smoking, food, or drink allowed in the CAIT. Food and drinks are permitted in the student lounge area. Food and drinks may be brought into 504 IF they are not placed on any table with a computer.
  4. Please do not shut off the power to the computer when you're finished using it. Once they are on they stay on all day (unless we have a thunderstorm). All of the machines have screen saver programs; if the machine is on but the screen is dark, hitting any key will activate the screen.
  5. Reserve readings are not to leave the center unless the copier is malfunctioning. If this happens you may take them to the main office for copying. If neither is available, you may sign out reserve readings for a two hours period using the sheet on the help desk and take them to another copier on campus.
  6. The photocopy machine is available for use most of the time. However, faculty and staff have priority use of the machine. Please do not attempt to do any repairs to the machine. If a jam occurs that requires opening the front doors of the machine, please get one of the lab or office staff. The interior of the machine can get hot enough to cause burns. Copies are 10 cents per copy for one sided copies and 15 cents per copy for two sided copies.
