
A listserv is a mailing list that works via e-mail. To be on a listserv, each user needs to subscribe to the list. When you wish to send out a message to the listserv, the message is sent to one listserv address and then the listserv forwards it to all of its subscribers. A listserv may originate from a location other than the University of Kentucky. The information below describes how to subscribe to a listserv at UK (Note: Some listserv lists require authorization through the owner of the list in order to subscribe, following these steps will not subscribe you to the list in those situations).
Steps to Subscribe to a Listserv at UK:
1. Send an e-mail message from the account you wish to subscribe to the list (POP, U-CONNECT, etc.) to listserv@lsv.uky.edu
2. Do not include a subject for the message.
3. In the body of the message type the following:
Subscribe listname First_Name Last_Name
Once listserv has processed your message, you should receive an e-mail message stating that your request was received and that you have been added to the list. This message may also contain information explaining how to unsubscribe from the list
