• Caldecott Award Winners are chosen by a committee of the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association. The Caldecott Medal is awarded to the American artist with the most distinguished picture book for children.
  • Newbery Award Winners are chosen by a committee of the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association. This award goes to the "author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children".
  • Kentucky Bluegrass Award Winners are selected by Kentucky elementary and middle school students. Information about participating in the selection process is available from this website.
  • Coretta Scott King winners are selected by the Coretta Scott King Task Force of the American Library Association's Social Responsibilities Round Table. Awards are given annually to an African American author and an African American illustrator for distinguished books which "promote an understanding and appreciation of the 'American Dream.'"
  • The Boston Globe-Horn Book Awards, given annually for excellence in literature for children and young adults, recognize an author of fiction or poetry for children, an illustrator of a children's book, and an author of outstanding nonfiction for children.
  • Kentucky authors and illustrators.
