With leadership positions, of course! UK SLA elects many positions: president, secretary, treasurer, web developer, mentoring liaison, and distance learning liaison. Appointments are annual for the Fall and Spring school year, and it’s time to begin the election process for the 2004-2005 year. Elected positions aren’t terribly demanding; we organize tours at local special libraries by using our connections with the Kentucky Chapter of SLA, and we organize lectures from different librarians who can discuss topics of interest to SLIS students. Best of all, leadership positions look great on your resume! We’ll be holding a meeting on Monday, January 26 at 3:30 pm (location TBA soon). Stop by and learn more about the student chapter of SLA and find out what's on our Spring agenda, or nominate yourself to run for a position. Snacks and pops will be provided of course, so there’s no excuse not to come in for an afternoon break! |
