Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research.
The Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), established in 1962, is an integral part of the infrastructure of social science research. ICPSR maintains and provides access to a vast archive of social science data for research and instruction, and offers training in quantitative methods to facilitate effective data use. To ensure that data resources are available to future generations of scholars, ICPSR preserves data, migrating them to new storage media as changes in technology warrant. In addition, ICPSR provides user support to assist researchers in identifying relevant data for analysis and in conducting their research projects. http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/

The University of Kentucky subscribes to ICPSR, making a large number of data sets available to UK faculty, students and staff. The catalog of available files can be viewed in the Young Reference & Information Services, in the Social Sciences Teaching and Research Statistics (SSTARS) Center, located in room 103 of McVey Hall, or on the ICPSR Home Page.  If we have already acquired a given data set, you will find it on this list.  If you need to request data not yet downloaded to a campus machine, contact Lorinda Wang in the SSTARS Center.

ICPSR now provides direct access to the ICPSR data holdings for all students, faculty, and staff at the University of Kentucky. With ICPSR Direct, anyone using a campus computer or the proxy server may download data from ICPSR without going through a local campus representative. When you have identified a data set you wish to download, click on downloads to access the authorized download page.   You can still work with SSTARS for access to data, ordering of code books, or help with the manipulation of the data sets, as before.
