How to Give

Your contributions in any form are always welcomed. Your monetary gifts can be designated for a specific academic unit, or for an existing scholarship or endowment program. Gifts for immediate use may be either unrestricted or restricted for a specific purpose or designated for a specific academic area. Unrestricted gifts are especially appreciated because they allow us to use your gift to tackle unanticipated needs—like purchasing needed equipment or helping to pay for student travel to national meetings and competitions.

You can also choose to provide a monetary gift to establish an endowed fund. An endowed fund gift is left intact while a portion of the investment return provides permanent support for the program, such as a faculty chair or student scholarship. The endowed fund becomes part of the University’s permanent endowment and maintains a separate identity as a specific account within the endowment.

Your gifts, either of time or money will make a difference—for our students and faculty members. You can make a gift on-line at https://iweb.uky.edu/giveonline/.

Gift Opportunities:

-- Scholarships --

An endowed scholarship is created with a gift and/or pledge of $10,000 or more. Only the investment income from the endowment principal is spent, allowing the fund to grow in perpetuity. The endowed fund can also be named after the donor or in honor or memory of a loved one, a family member, a faculty member, friend or any other person of their choice. Non-endowed scholarship can also be established.

-- Professorships --

Named professorships are established with a gift of $250,000. Professorships can also be named for the donor or their designee.

-- Chairs --

An academic chair is established with a gift of $1,000,000. This is the most prestigious of named academic chairs and is used to recruit or retain faculty who have demonstrated their unmatched qualifications and are widely recognized as internationally renowned in their particular fields.

-- Fellowships --

Endowed graduate fellowships begin with a gift and/or pledge of $50,000. As with endowed scholarships, endowed fellowships may also be named for the donor or any person chosen by the donor. Fellowships provide graduate students with the financial support necessary to continue pursuit of their graduate degrees.
