.The 2006 American Advertising Federation Chapter at UK after placing first in the National Student Advertising District Five Competition.	Dean J. David Johnson presents the 2006 Friend of the College Award to Al Smith in recognition of his support for the establishment of the Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues.
Department of Communication Chair Dr. Nancy Grant Harrington presents Dr. Michael I. Arrington with the 2006 Faculty Research Award. Dr. Arrington shared this award with Dr. Richard Labunski in the School of Journalism and Telecommunications. The Grehan Building is home to the School of Journalism and Telecommunications, the Dean’s Office, the Department of Communication, the Kentucky Kernel and The Kentuckian. The School of Library and Information Science will be moving from MI King to the Lucille Little Library in fall 2007.

Dr. Tim Sineath recognizes Evelyn Hensley, the first recipient of the Clarence E. and Edna Horn Johnson Scholarship. This scholarship was established by Drs. J. David and Sally Johnson.
Dr. Beth Barnes recognizes Hillary Schiffer, the 2005 recipient of the Sam Abell Photojournalism Scholarship.	Janice Birdwhistell receives the 2006 Outstanding Staff Award from Dean J. David Johnson.
