The Tape Storage system is backups.uky.edu. It supports our our FTP (HSM) storage and TSM backup storage.
backups.uky.edu is a IBM p630 with 8 GB of memory,gigabit ethernet, fiber channel adapters and 4 processors, each running at 1.2GHz. We are running Tivoli Storage Manager 5.2.1.2.
hsm.uky.edu is a IBM p615 with 1 GB of memory,gigabit ethernet, fiber channel adapters and (1) 1.2GHz processors.
Disk space for TSM is provided on a fiber attached FAStT700 disk. There is 2 Terabytes of storage available with about 700 GB dedicated to disk cache.
backups is attached to a IBM3494 automated library with 8 3592J1A and 4 3592E05 tape drives,
and via a SAN to an IBM LTO library with 6 LTO2 tape drives.
Be aware that you can not use your hsm userid until you first set an e-mail address for that userid. To do that, ssh to hsm.uky.edu and pick Set Email Address. Then follow the instructions.
FTP to hsm takes you to a disk holding area for the tape storage system. You CAN ssh to hsm in order to change your e-mail address, change your password, and perform other functions.
