TSM CLIENTS

Currently supported clients can be downloaded here. Other backup modules are available (for an additional cost) for such systems as Oracle, SQL, Exchange, and others. Please contact help-backups-l@lsv.uky.edu for more information.

Once you have your client installed, please look at the various performance issues/suggestions for your particular system.

Note this site is provided as a convenience for distribution of this software to the UK campus only. Downloading of this software is only one step of several needed to have backups performed on your client.

WARNING download or use of this software requires purchase of a license from the vendor. Unauthorized use of this software can be grounds for legal action from the vendor, and/or the University of Kentucky.

Some directories and files are not backed up - these are operating system files that change very frequently or temporary file areas. On Unix systems these include /tmp and /var/tmp; on Windows systems the contents of folders are backed up on Windows servers, but are retained for a shorter period than other files. For further information see below.

NOTE: Clients at 5.4.1.1 and lower have known security issues. We recommend updating if possible. Some OS's are no longer supported or have no patch available yet.

Startup scripts that may be helpful.
(selected support) for supported platforms. Write the scripts running the TSM client daemons to set environment variable LC_CTYPE=en_US and export it.
The following file contains the message catalog from a previous release. If the message catalog is not present after installing the client, untar this file in the directory the TSM executable files were installed in.
