ccstat: Disk quotas, filesystem usage, and scratch area
-
User home directories (e.g. /u/home/user) carry a disk quota
soft-limit of 50 MB
and 2000 files and a hard-limit of 60MB and
2100 files.
Once you go over your soft-limit, you will still be able to create some
files, up to the hard-limit, but you will begin to
receive warnings from the system until you reduce your usage.
-
For large file usage that will not fit within the homedir quota, there
is a second filesystem that can be used as a scratch area
for data files.
Each account
has a link in the home dir called scratch that will take you
to a dir on this filesystem. The full pathname of this dir takes the form
of /scratch/userid. (Example).
- Files can currently stay here for at least 30 days.
- File size is unlimited.
- Files in /scratch are not backed up.
-
To check
your quota (disk) usage on your home dir , use the
quota command.
