





Mette Ramsgard Thomsen is head of the Centre for Interactive Technologies and Architecture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in Copenhagen, Denmark. After studying architecture at the Royal Academy and subsequently qualifying as an architect, Thomsen later completed a Ph.D. in architecture and computer science at University College in London. She has worked as a researcher at the Bartlett School of Architecture at University College in London, the Fraunhofer Institute in Berlin, Germany, and at the Human Interface Technology Lab at the University of Washington in Seattle. Thomsen’s research and design work focuses on the development of interactive virtual and real spaces. Recent projects include, Vivisection, which explores the way textiles can be transformed into a computational matrix, and CAD CAM knitting, which explores the use of high tech composites such as Kevlar and carbon fiber for the building industry.
