Michelle Provoost

Michelle Provoost is an architectural historian, curator, editor and founding partner of Rotterdam-based Crimson Architectural Historians. Provoost has worked for many years as a curator at the Netherlands Architecture Institute in Rotterdam and, for the last three years, has edited Architecture in the Netherlands, the definite survey of recent architecture built in the Netherlands. She is the author of numerous articles, essays and books, including WiMBY! Hoogvliet: Future, Past and Present of a New Town (2008), a finalist for the Royal Institute of British Architects Book Award for Architectural Practice. The book serves as the final document of Crimson's seven year urban regeneration project in Rotterdam-Hoogvliet, and has become a guide for alternative urban planning practices across Europe. Provoost will lecture on WiMBY and on Crimson's current research on new towns.
