Congress has extended the IRA charitable rollover through the end of 2013.
This law allows an individual who is age 70½ or older to make a special gift from his or her IRA to a charitable institution such as the University of Kentucky.
- If you are age 70 ½ or older, you can make a gift of any amount up to $100,000 from your IRA to a charitable institution such as the University of Kentucky.
- Your gift will qualify for your 2013 required minimum distribution.
- You will not have to pay federal income tax on the amount given from your IRA.
- Your gift can be directed to a program or project of your choice.
