the big blue community plan

UK Dining Services allows everyone who is part of the UK campus community but doesn't live in the Residence Halls (commuters, faculty/staff, administrators, upper classmen, students in apartments or townhomes, Greeks, and Cooperstown/Shawneetown/Greg Page residents, etc.) the opportunity to save money with the Big Blue Community Plan. BCTC commuter students and staff are also eligible for the Big Blue Community Plan.

The Big Blue Community Plan is a Flex Dollar only plan that works like a debit card with meal costs being deducted for each purchase. The Plan requires an initial deposit of at least $100 which will be billed to the student's billing account.* Dining Services will contribute an additional 10% to the account when the Plan is initiated and each time a minimum deposit of $25 or more is made during the semester. Deposits can be made at the Dining & Plus Account Office in Room 101 Student Center in $25 increments using cash, check, Visa® or MasterCard®.

*UK or BCTC faculty or staff member must pre-pay

Up to $100 unused Flex Dollars will transfer between the Fall and Spring semesters for Big Blue Community Plan holders who sign up for a Spring Big Blue Community Plan; otherwise unused Flex Dollars at the end of the Fall semester are non-refundable and non-transferable. The deadline to reestablish your Big Blue Community plan is December 18, 2009. Unused Flex Dollars expire at the end of the Spring semester and are non-refundable and non-transferable.

UK or BCTC commuter students, faculty or staff also have the option of purchasing a Weekly or Block Dining Plan. If a Dining Plan is purchased after the beginning of the semester the cost will be pro-rated based on the type of plan selected.

The Big Blue Community Plan and all Dining Plans are one semester contracts for UK Community Members (non-Residence Hall students).

Deadline to reestablish both Big Blue Community Plan and Dining Plans for Spring semester is December 18, 2009. This will allow up to $100 in Flex Dollars to transfer between semesters.
