Dining Plans Explained
Dining Plans consist of Meals and Flex Dollars that are set up as an account which can be accessed using a UK or BCTC Student or Faculty/Staff ID like a debit card. Each time a purchase is made using one of the accounts, the total is deducted from either the Dining Plan or Flex Dollar balance. Account balance totals are available whenever a purchase is made at a dining location or convenience store on campus.
Each Dining Plan has two components, Meals and Flex Dollars.
Dining Plan Meals - Use this option to enjoy all-you-care-to-eat at Blazer and Commons or build your own "Combo Meal" at K Lair, Ovid's Cafe or Bluegrass Cafe (BCTC) by choosing an entree, adding side(s), and a drink.
Our restaurants and stores use this symbol to show the restaurants that take the Dining Plan Meals.
Flex Dollars - Use this option for payment at all campus restaurants and convenience stores including Chick-fil-A®, Panda Express®, Sbarro®, Starbucks®, and Subway® using your student ID as a debit card.

Living Off Campus? Dining Plans are Still a Good Choice and Value.
UK Dining Services allows everyone who is part of the campus community, but doesn't live in the residence halls, the opportunity to save money and guarantee access to a variety of meals. All Dining Plans are available to UK or BCTC non-residence hall students, faculty and staff.
Another option for UK or BCTC non-residence hall students, faculty and staff is the Big Blue Community Plan.
The Big Blue Community Plan can be used to budget what you spend for meals each day. The Plan is a Flex Dollar account which is accepted at all UK Dining restaurants and convenience stores on campus. The account can be accessed using a UK or BCTC student, faculty or staff ID like a debit card. Funds may only be used for campus food or convenience store item purchases. Each time a purchase is made using the account, the total is deducted from the account balance. Money may be added to the account at any time in The Dining & Plus Account Office (Rm. 101 in the Student Center).
Unused Flex Dollars will carry forward from Fall to Spring for students enrolled for the Spring semester.
Step 3: How to Sign Up
UK Community members, including students living off campus, can fill out the appropriate forms under our "Forms" Tab located at the top of this page and then mail or bring the forms to the Dining and Plus Account Office in room 101 in the Student Center.

Choosing your plan
Am I required to participate in a Dining Plan?
Students living in a Residence Hall are automatically enrolled in the Minimum Dining Plan for the 2012-2013 academic year as part of the housing contract.
This plan provides 5 Meals per week and a total of $300 Flex Dollars per semester. Students have the option to upgrade from the Minimum Plan to any of the other 5 available Dining Plans. All Dining Plans are for the academic year. Select "Dining Plan Info" for more information.
How do I pick a Dining Plan?
In order to determine the best Dining Plan for you or your student, first you must determine how many meals will be consumed per week and how much flexibility in meal choices you or your student would like to have. Using the chart above, determine which plan suits your needs.
How are the Wildcat and Champion Plans Different?
The Wildcat and Champion Plans are Block Plans that allows flexibility for the number of meals eaten throughout the semester. The plans are based on 5 or 8 meals per week but your student determines how many meals to use. Instead of the number of meals resetting each week, these plans allow for meals to be carried from week to week throughout the semester. Unused meals expire at the end of each semester and are non-refundable and non-transferable.
The Minimum, White, Blue, and Comfort Plans are considered weekly dining plans. Weekly Plans provide for a specific number of meals each week during a semester. If your student has a weekly dining plan the meal allowance begins on Sunday and ends on Saturday each week. Unused meals cannot be refunded, accumulated or carried over to the next week.
Is there a Dining Plan for commuter/off-campus students, faculty & staff?
Commuter/off-campus students, faculty & staff members may sign-up for the Big Blue Community Plan (Flex Dollars only). UK or BCTC commuter students, faculty & staff members also have the option of purchasing a Dining Plan (Meals & Flex Dollars).
If a Dining Plan is purchased after the beginning of the semester, the cost will be pro-rated based on the type of plan selected. Dining Plans are for the academic year.
The Big Blue Community Plan is for the academic year but a Spring deposit is optional.
About the Contract
How Long Does A Dining Plan Contract Last?
