Am I required to participate in a Dining Plan?
Students living in a Residence Hall are automaticaly enrolled in the Minimum Dining Plan for the 2009-2010 academic year as part of the housing contract.
This plan provides 5 Meals per week and a total of $300 Flex Dollars per semester. Students have the option to upgrade from the Minimum Plan to any of the 3 available Dining Plans. All Dining Plans are for the academic year. Select "Dining Plan Info" for more information.
How do I use my Dining Plan?
Each Dining Plan has two components, Meals and Flex Dollars.Choose from Weekly Meals or a Block Meal Plan. Meals may be used to purchase an "Unlimited Choice" Meal at Blazer Café and Commons Market and a Combo Meal at K-Lair Grill, Ovid's Café or the Bluegrass Café at BCTC. Flex Dollars may be used at any of our 22 Dining Services locations on campus.
Unused Weekly Meals cannot be refunded, accumulated or carried over to the next week. Unused Block Meals cannot be refunded or carried over at the end of the semester.
Up to $100 unused Flex Dollars will transfer between the Fall and Spring semesters, provided there is an active Spring Dining Plan.
Unused Flex Dollars expire at the end of the Spring Semester and are non-refundable and non-transferable.
*The Big Blue Community Plan does not include Meals.
What's the difference between all the Dining Plans?
The difference between the Dining Plan options is in the number of weekly meals and Flex Dollars offered:

How do I pick a Dining Plan?
In order to determine the best Dining Plan for you or your student, first you must determine how many meals will be consumed per week and how much flexibility in meal choices you or your student would like to have. Using the chart above, determine which plan suits your needs.
Where can I use my Dining Plan?
Weekly meals may be used at Blazer Café, Commons Market, K-Lair Grill, Ovid's Café and Bluegrass Café (BCTC), while Flex Dollars may be used at all 21 Dining Services locations.
Is there a Dining Plan for commuter/off-campus students, faculty & staff?
&staff members may sign-up for the Big Blue Community Plan. UK or BCTC commuter students, faculty & staff members also have the option of purchasing a Dining Plan. If a Dining Plan is purchased after the beginning of the semester, the cost will be pro-rated based on the type of plan selected.
How will I know how many Meals I have left for the week or the semester?
"Manage Your Account" feature. You need to click on "I'm new here" and obtain a password in order to manage your account. You may then login and view your account balances and transaction history. Select "accout Activity" from the menu to view your transactions. You may view transactions from the past 6 months.
What if I run out of meals in the middle of the week?
You may use the Flex Dollars component of your Dining Plan to purchase meals at Blazer Café, Commons Market, K-Lair Grill, Ovid's Café, and Bluegrass Café. You can also use your Flex Dollars or Plus Account at any of the on campus UK Dining Services locations.
What happens if I don't use all of my Weekly Meals or Block Plan Meals?
Weekly meals do not accumulate or transfer to the following week. The Wildcat Block Plan Meals do not carry over to the next semester.
Do any of the Dining Services locations accept credit or debit card?
All Dining Services locations accept cash, check, Visa® or MasterCard®.
What if I want to change my Dining Plan?
Students may upgrade Dining Plans at any time during the semester. Downgrades to Dining Plans may only be made until September 15th for the fall 2009 semester; February 2nd for the spring 2010 semester. You will recieve a pro-rated credit on the Student Billing Account.
Students are allowed one upgrade and one downgrade per semester. You will begin the Spring semester with the Plan that is active at the end of the Fall semester.
How does Dining Services keep track of the number of Meals I've eaten each week?
Each time you use your WildCard Student ID or BCTC Student ID to purchase a Weekly Meal or Wildcat Block Plan Meal, a computer program tracks how many Meals you have used as well as how many Meals you have left for the week or semester. For Dining Services, the week starts with breakfast on Sunday and ends with dinner the following Saturday.
What if I do not use all of my Meals?

What are the Flex Dollars?
Flex Dollars operates like as a declining balance debit account. Flex Dollars are accepted at all 21 Dining Services facilities. Students have the flexibility to eat at any UK Dining facility. Check our website for updated Hours of Operation. All Residence Hall Dining Plans include Flex Dollars. Up to $100 unused Flex Dollars will transfer between the Fall and Spring semesters, provided there is an active Spring Dining Plan. Where can I add money to my Flex Dollars?

What is the Plus Account?
The Plus Account is an optional debit program for University of Kentucky and Bluegrass Community & Technical College students, faculty and staff. A Plus Account is automatically open and accessed as a feature of your WildCard Student ID, UK Faculty/Staff ID or BCTC Student ID. The Plus Account is extremely flexible and widely used both on campus and off campus for dining, laundry, bookstores, printing, copying, prescriptions, and much more. Residence Hall laundry and campus printing may only be accessed with a Plus Account.
Where can I add money to the Plus Account?
Effective July 1, 2009, funds may be deposited in whole dollar amounts at the following locations:
Online deposits may be made with Visa® or MasterCard®. The Dining & Plus Account Office accepts cash, check, Visa®, or MasterCard®. Student Billing Services accepts cash or check, and DART machines accept cash only. All Plus Account monies may be refunded less a $5 processing fee or will automatically carry forward. Unused funds will be forfeited after five years of non-use.
What if I lose my Wildcard Student ID?
If you lose your WildCard Student ID or it becomes damaged, report it immediately to the WildCard UKID Center located in Room 107 of the Student Center, (859) 257-6159 or deactivate it online using the "Manage Your Account" feature at the Dining & Plus Account website, www.uky.edu/PlusAccount.
If you lose your BCTC Student ID, report it immediately to the BCTC Student Activities Office in Room 202A Oswald Building on the BCTC Cooper Campus, (859) 246-6523, the UK Dining & Plus Account office in room 101 Student Center, (859) 257-6159 or de-activate it online using the "Manage Your Account" feature at the Dining & Plus Account website, www.uky.edu/PlusAccount.
A replacement charge of $20 for UK WildCard IDs and $10 for BCTC Student IDs will be accessed if your card is lost or stolen.
The UK Dining & Plus Account Office is open Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
The BCTC Student Activity Office is open Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm.
Where can I find vegetarian and/or low-fat options?
Every Dining Services location offers vegetarian and low-fat items. For a listing of these items, please contact the manager at your favorite Dining Services location. All Dining Services locations cook with trans fat-free oils.
