DE&CB’s Mission Statement
The Diversity Education & Community Building component (DE&CB) was cultivated as a result of a partnership between the Office of Institutional Diversity and the Office of Student Involvement. The component assists in sustaining an active campus community that embraces difference, and respects cultural and self-identity. DE&CB facilitates inclusive learning experiences of students where all can engage, break barriers, and build collaborative relationships.

Sponsorships
This initiative has been created to assist in building relationships among student community and enhancing cultural programming opportunities. Please note that requests that reflect a collaboration or partnership between two or more organizations will be given priority access to funding.

DE&CB Student Liaisons
All proposals will be reviewed and allocations decided upon by the DE&CB staff and the CATalyst Coalition Executive Team. The CATalyst Coalition has been designed to assist our campus in achieving inclusive excellence, and creating a student leadership community around diversity.

Deadlines
Your proposal must be submitted by the following dates to be considered for monetary co-sponsorship.

Submit your proposal to CATalyst Office, Center for Student Involvement (106 Student Center) in the mailbox folder labeled “Proposal Submissions” at the front desk or e-mail to catalystcoalition@gmail.com. All proposals must be received by 5:00 p.m. NO EXCEPTIONS! Your organization will receive an email within 48 hours concerning the decision.

CRITERIA FOR SUBMITTING A PROPOSAL FOR CO-SPONSORSHIP

  1. Must be a registered student organization.
  2. Must submit a written or electronic proposal to Rebecca Comage, Assistant Director of Student Involvement
  3. Proposal should include name of student organization officers along with telephone numbers and e-mail addresses. The attached signature sheet should be submitted with your proposal.
  4. Diversity Education & Community Building must be listed as a co-sponsor on all fliers and announced at the event. (jpeg of logo will be provided)
  5. Must submit a copy of your flyer to the Assistant Director prior to the event.
  6. If food is to be served, a copy of the Catering Requisition form must be completed and attached to the proposal.
  7. If electronic equipment is needed, it must be included in the proposal.
  8. No organization is permitted to use technical equipment without a University’s technician present.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. A detailed budget including other funding resources.
  2. A representative from your organization is not required to attend the CATalyst meeting where your proposal is to be discussed, however, attendance and presentation from your representatives is highly recommended. Discussion of proposals will occur the Wednesday following proposal submission deadline.

PROPOSAL EVALUATION

Proposal will be evaluated on the following:

  • Strength of program concept
  • Program’s potential to meet student need and campus interests
  • Program’s alignment with the mission of Diversity Education & Community Building
  • Logistical strength of program (is there proper time to plan, are logistics well thought through, etc.

PROPOSAL CONTENTS

Proposal must include the following:

  1. Program/Event name
  2. Date, Time, Location
  3. Brief Description of program
  4. Goal of Program
  5. Target Audience of Program & Usefulness to campus
  6. Detailed budget
  7. List of other organizations, co-sponsors involved
  8. Brief outline of plan for marketing the program
  9. Requested funding: financial or venue
