The Purple Band Campaign
This campaign was developed as a tangible way for students and university constituents to show their commitment to diversity. You can receive a purple band at various diversity and cultural events across campus.
We ask that you read the pledge and consider putting it into action!
The Purple Band Pledge:
As students and constituents of the University of Kentucky,
we acknowledge we set the standard as the
flagship institution of our state.
We willingly accept the social responsibility we have
as leaders in our communities and beyond.
We believe it is our duty to use our knowledge in a
responsible and respectful manner to futher the
highest ideals of humanity in ourselves and others.
We recognize the critical importance of fostering a
sense of acceptance and understanding across all
boundaries so that we can move forward collectively.
In full and conscious committment to these ideals
with sincere aim of creating a more accepting and
inclusive community, we make the following pledge:
To actively seek to understand and encourage the contributions of all people;
To work toward social justice and acceptance in our daily lives;
To be examples of the change we wish to see, so others may benefit and learn from us.
