In 2006, not long after enrolling in the College of Fine Arts at the University of Kentucky, I was invited to curate an art exhibit at Transylvania University.  In preparation for the 2008 event, I  began  to search for additional  funding for research as well as an exhibition catalog.
Soon I discovered that neither the College of Fine Arts nor Transylvania were able to provide additional support for the exhibition. I soon realized that as a student, I was ineligible for most publicly funded grants.
My discovery of Eureka's Summer Research and Creativity Grant provided an opportunity to learn about the grant writing process, while working with the extra resources provided by my faculty sponsor.  I was very excited when I received an award, and the exhibition exceeded everyone's expectations.
