The Commonwealth of Kentucky mandates by statute that all public records be retained or disposed of according to state guidelines. In 1978, the Kentucky Records Commission and the Kentucky State Archives developed records schedules for the University of Kentucky. The schedules call for the timely destruction, or permanent preservation, of all University public documents. In 1994 the State Archives developed the first installment of a model schedule for public records generated by state universities. As it is developed, the model schedules will supersede UK's 1978 records
schedules. Please consult your Controller's Division Departmental "GreenBook" for questions regarding records management.
The Office of the Treasurer Records Management Program can assist with:
- Information regarding records retention and retrieval
- Transfer of permanent University records to storage facilities
- Assistance with storage of non-permanent records
- Destruction of non-permanent records
- Alterations in records retention and destruction schedules
