Project Description The University is the recipient of a grant award from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as part of the "America Recovery and Renewal Act" federal stimulus package to construct a new stand-alone laboratory building for the University of Kentucky Center for Applied Energy Research located at Spindletop Research Park. Portions of the laboratory facility will be specially equipped to accommodate battery-manufacturing R&D. In addition, other portions of the building will be specially equipped to accommodate research related to biomass energy and biofuels, electrochemical energy storage, and solar energy.
