"Making it Happen" Event

The University of Kentucky hosted its first supplier diversity outreach on September 24, 2009 in the student Center Small Ballroom.  Over 30 certified minority business owners from throughout Kentucky were welcomed by University Vice Presidents, Directors, Managers, Buyers and Project Managers.  There was an exchange of information, including the University’s diversity policy and the procedures for becoming a supplier.  The University partnered with the Kentucky Lottery and the Tri-State Minority Supplier Development Council (TSMSDC), a non-profit organization whose purpose is to link institutions with minority business owners.  This event is one of an increasing number of outreach efforts by U.K. Facilities Management and collaborating departments to expand and diversify the University’s supplier base.  More events are tentatively scheduled for next year.
