Teacher Who Made a Difference Program to be held Homecoming morning

Coach Tubby Smith
Is there a teacher or professor who made an impact on your life?

That’s a question the University of Kentucky College of Education is asking all alumni when they present the third annual Teacher Who Made a Difference Program at Homecoming on Saturday, November 4, 2000.

The Teacher Who Made a Difference Program will give alumni the chance to honor those teachers who have, through their leadership and dedication, made a lasting impact on the lives of their students. The program reunites teachers with former students and gives the students an opportunity to say thank you. In the past two years, the Teacher Who Made a Difference Program has evolved into a major homecoming event.

“As I look back on my days at Great Mills High School and George Washington Carver Elementary School, the teachers have sure made a difference in my life,” commented Tubby Smith, UK men’s basketball coach and Teacher Who Made a Difference Program spokesperson.

The program will consist of a special recognition event starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2000, in the W.T. Young Library auditorium. A reception will follow in the gallery.

To nominate a teacher, please fill out this form, or call at (859) 257-1778. Deadline for nominations is Friday, September 8, 2000.

Evensen, a teacher from Glendover Elementary School, was also honored at the 2000 Scholarship and Awards Banquet with a scholarship fund in her name — The Grace Evensen Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching Scholarship.
