Purpose

The UCEA Center for the Study of the Superintendency is presently administered by the University of Kentucky and the University of Minnesota. Its purposes include:

  • Establishing networks and collaborate with professional associations, practitioners, state education agencies, licensure groups, businesses, and universities in planning and undertaking the Center's work.
  • Identifying promising areas for future research.
  • Supporting and conducting research in the area of the superintendency.
  • Publishing research findings and maintaining a catalog/library of resources.
  • Hosting meetings, conferences, symposia, seminars, workshops and institutes to explore issues related to the study and practice of the superintendency.

THE UNIVERSITY COUNCIL FOR EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION

The University Council for Educational Administration is a consortium of major research universities with doctoral programs in educational leadership and policy. The dual mission of UCEA is to improve the preparation of educational leaders and promote the development of professional knowledge in school improvement and administration. UCEA headquarters is currently hosted by the University of Missouri-Columbia. The UCEA has eight program centers that work in targeted areas of interest and have made substantial contributions to knowledge production and exchange of ideas in the field of educational leadership and the varied organizations served by educational leaders and administrators.
